The Littlest Light

You there with the telescope,
See me... here I am,
The teeny one, just to your left,
I'm shining best I can.

No! you've moved too far,
I guess that's not your fault,
I know I'm rather hard to see,
I'm nothing to exalt.

I've been up here ten thousand years,
Well, maybe that times two,
I'll bet you never noticed me,
But I cannot blame you.

My light wasn't bright enough,
To lead the Wise Men's way,
When they journeyed to Bethlehem,
That Holy, Holy day.

I tried, I shone as best I could,
I did my very most,
But who'd see such a little light,
Among the heaven's host?

He did! He saw my glow!
He saw my teeny ray!
I know 'cause when He came back up,
He kissed me on the way.
