Look yonder in the meadow
it's all so plainly clear
the roosters having parties
and we're all stuck in here

They live a life of leisure
never wanting for a thing
The only time they think of us
is when they come a'courting

We sit here on these nests
most every single day
Just clucking and discussing
how it got to be this way

Sitting here and thinking
watching those boys play
We are all lined up
just a'sittin on this hay

Squawk! look at big Bertha
out bathing in the sun
She's the big ol' hussy
that's out there havin fun

I think I'll steal her eggs
and hatch just one or two
She'll never miss a thing
and I'm feeling very blue

Oh dear, here comes that hand
and it's taking all our eggs
One by one, and off they go
into those little trays

Scrambled eggs for breakfast
is what we get today
Yum, Yum they are delicious
where did they get them eggs?

I guess I best be going
and doin' what I do best
Just a'clucking and a'laying
and a'sitting on this nest
