North winds are blowing
that chill to the bone
Something about winter
leaves one feeling alone
Dark clouds rolling in
like waves from the sea
You wait for the sun
for promise of spring
White is the ground
where once it was green
Cold patches of ice
is all that remains
The grass is all dead
around barren old trees
The colors of death
in most all that I see
It won't be too long
till the sun shines again
The flowers will grow
with a soft gentle rain
A blue bird sings out
from a pine far below
He's looking for food
in the new fallen snow
He helps me remember
a soft summer breeze
The endless blue skies;
green grass to my knees
The darkness of winter
brings hope of new birth
A kaleidoscope of colors
from old mother earth
